Ingredients for preparation of Aloo Matar Curry :

Potaotes | 500 grams |
Green peas | 11/2 cup |
Almond or cashew powder | 2 table spoons |
Cumin seeds | 1 tea spoon |
Red chili powder | 1 tea spoon |
Turmeric powder | ½ tea spoon |
Garam masala powder | ½ tea spoon |
Oil | 2 table spoons |
Asafoetida | a pinch |
Chopped coriander leaves | 2 table spoons |
Salt | as required |
Grind to paste: | |
Onion | 1 cup chopped onions |
Tomatoes | 2 cups chopped |
Ginger | 1 inch |
Garlic | 5 to 6 |
Aloo Matar curry preparation method :
First grind all the onion, tomato, ginger and garlic in a grinder to a smooth paste( water is not needed).
Heat oil in a pressure cooker, crackle the cumin seeds, then add the ground onion-tomato paste. Stir and then add the ground almond/cashew powder.
Saute the ground paste till the oil releases from the sides. The masala paste splutters, so do cover partly with a lid. Once the mixture stops spluttering, then remove the lid and saute.
Then add the asafoetida , red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Stir and add the peas and potatoes( peeled and diced). Saute for a minute and add water and salt.
Stir well and cover, simmer till the potatoes and peas are cooked well. Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles till the potatoes & peas are cooked completely.
Lastly add garam masala powder mix and then add chopped coriander leaves.
Now the Aloo Matar Curry is ready to serve.
Serve Aloo Matar curry hot with pooris, chapatis or rice.
