Marina Beach:
Marina beach is the second biggest beach in the world and the biggest in Asia located in the heart of Chennai so it is also called Chennai Beach or the Gateway to the South. This beach consists of miles long stretches of velvety sands that are perfect for evening and morning walks. The sun setting behind the sea waters is a wonderful sight seeing. The beach promenade is beautified by stone statues of famous personalities including Bharathiyaar, Mahatma Gandhi, Kannagi, Thiruvalluvar, M.G.R, Sivaji Ganeshan, C.N Annadurai etc. A major attraction among these statues is the statue of Triumph of Labor.
Kanyakumari beach is situated at the southern most tip of India at the meeting point of Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, thus making it an important Hindu pilgrimage. and also known as ‘The Land’s End’This probably is the most beautiful beach of all that are there in South India. The beach at Kanyakumari remains thronged by tourists as well as devotees who come here to take a purifying dip in the holy waters. The old lighthouse situated on the beach affords a panoramic view of the surroundings from its top. From the beach you will see the exquisite Vivekananda Rock Memorial that attracts many tourists.
Mahabalipuram Beach:
The Mahabalipuram beach is situated in the Silk City of Tamilnadu state near Kancheepuram. Mahabalipuram beach is a world heritage site. The spectacular beach of Mahabalipuram is one of the main tourist attraction in Tamilnadu. The port city of Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram, was once a port city of the Pallavas on the shores of the Bay of Bengal. It is home to exotic monuments belonging to the times of Pallavas including Sculptural Panels.
The Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram beach is located 58 km south of Chennai. The picturesque beach is studded with beautiful rock formations, sprawling sands and rising coconut trees. There are other attractions in the vicinity such as a one of its kind snake venom centre and a crocodile breeding farm.
Covelong Beach:
Covelong beach is one of the most important and picturesque beaches in the state of Tamilnadu. There are many historical churches and forts that line up on the beach. This beach was once served as an important port to the Carnatic Nawabs. Covelong is a serene fishing village around 40 km form Chennai. The sea here is quite calm and as far as aqua-sports are concerned you are in for a treat. Covelong or Kovalam beach is a perfect beach holiday destination in Tamil Nadu.
