Idols and temple items unearthed from kodad in Andhra village
Damuri Badraiah, a farmer from the Anantagiri village near Kodad while digging his old house site to build a new house on found 9 copper pots, 2 copper idols and leftovers of satagopam, harathi plates and other items associated with temples.
The farmer, with his neighbors, informed the Kodad tehsildar of the findings. The tehsildar took the belonging into his possession. Archaeology department officials believe that these pots and idols are over 100 years old.
Damuri Badraiah and other villagers have retained two idols and requested the official’s permission to keep them in their village temple.
Panchanama of the things recovered was prepared in the presence of the District Collector, Ramulu Nayak, who is the Assistant Director of the Department of Archaeology and Museums, Speaking to the media said that officials would visit the site to decide whether to dig out the site
