Karanji Recipe
Ingredients Required for Stuffing:
Dry coconut – 2 cups (grated)
Sugar powder – 2 cups
Nutmeg powder – 1 pinch
Dry ginger powder – 1 pinch
Elaichi – 10
Maida – 4 tsp
Mixed dry fruit – 4 tsp (chopped)
Poppy seeds – 4 tsp
Ingredients for Dough:
Maida – 2 cups
Ghee – 2 tsp
Salt – pinch
Warm milk – 1 cup
Karanji Preparation:
Make a dough by mixing all the ingredients maida, ghee, a pinch of salt and warm milk and knead the dough and keep aside.
Now make stuffing preparation by roasting dry coconut powder, then roast maida in ghee, then poppy seeds and mix all the ingredients and grind them finely in a mixer.
Take small portions of dough roll into small oval shaped puris and place the stuffing in the middle of it. With the help of water or milk stick both the corners of the puri by applying on the sides of the puri and seal it properly. But see that more water is applied to the sides as it won’t stick properly. Repeat the process with remaining dough and mixture.
In Deep fry pan add oil and heat it, now add prepared Karanji’s into oil and fry till it becomes brown color. Take out from oil and drain them on paper.
