Vazhakkai Poriyal Recipe

Raw banana poriyal recipe is a easy south indian sabji or dry curry made with raw unripe bananas
Ingredients to prepare Raw Banana Poriyal :
Raw bananas | 4 small to medium |
Coconut oil | 11/2 table spoons |
Dry red chili | 2 to 3 |
Mustard seeds | 1 tea spoon |
Urad dal | 11/2 tea spoon |
Cumin seeds/jeera | 1 tea spoon |
Curry leaves/kadi patta | 8 to 10 |
Of asafoetida/hing | a pinch |
Grated coconut | 4 table spoons |
Chopped coriander leaves | 3 table spoons |
Raw banana poriyal preparation method :
Peel the raw bananas lightly, cut into square pieces and keep them in a bowl of water.
Heat coconut oil in a shallow frying pan add mustard seeds, urad dalm, cumin seeds and saute till they splutter.
Then add dry red chili, a pinch of asafoetida, and curry leaves and stir.
Now add the raw bananas, salt and ¼ cup water. Stir very well cover the pan with a lid.
On a low flame cook till the bananas have softened. Check in between when the bananas are cooking, if the water dries up in the pan then add some more water.
When the bananas are cooked, then add grated coconut, mix well the banana and fry.
Add finely chopped coriander leaves and remove from flame.
Now the Raw banana Poriyal or Vazhakkai Poriyal is ready to serve.
Serve banana poriyal with sambar-rice, rasam-rice.
