Senagala Guggillu

Ingredients to Prepare Senagala Guggillu:

Bengal Gram or Kala Chana or Senagalu2 Cup
Grated Coconut1/2 Cup
Split Black Gram or Udad Dal2 table spoon
Mustard Seeds1 tea spoon
Red Chillies4
Curry Leaves5 or 6
Ground nut Oil4 tea spoon
Asafoetida or HingA Pinch
Saltto Taste

 

Senagala Guggillu preparation method :

sanagala guggilluIn a large vessel, soak the Bengal Gram or Kala Chana in atleast 5 Cups of water for overnight.

Drain the water and add 4 Cups of fresh water and 1 tea spoon salt. Pressure cook for 2

whistles( do not overcook the chana ).

Drain the water completely and set aside.

Heat Ground nut oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and wait till they splutter. Add udad dal and fry till it is golden brown.

Now reduce the heat and add split red chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida. Then add the Kala Chana, grated coconut and salt, if required.

Stir-fry for a couple of minutes. Turn off the heat.
