Significance of Yantras for life
Yantra is an instrument or machine made of various metals like copper, gold, silver, astadhatu, pancha loha, can be traced on the ground, or a special leaf referred to as bhoja patra and made on a particular date and time according to procedures defined in the Vedas and charged with siddhi mantras. Most of the Yantras are two dimensional and three-dimensional.
A yantra, at the basic level, is a geometric design with interlocking pattern of triangles, lotuses, squares, and dots that acts as a tool for meditation and ritual. The most important aspects of yantras are the elements and their meaning. The seeker meditates on the central point or the dot, which is surrounded by the other elements. The process of creation of Yantra is represented by the five elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether while the activating is the process of putting the Soul into it.
The dot or the bindu has great significance in Hinduism is the focal point of concentration, and must be as small as possible.
The triangles pointing upward equilateral direction represents the static principle or Purusha, linga (the male phallic symbol), male energy, or water. The downward-pointing equilateral triangle represents the active principle or Prakriti (the female reproductive organ or womb), female energy, or fire.
The Star of yantras is formed by the combination of two triangles that represents the union of Shiva and Shakti. Square is usually the outer limit of the yantra, and represents the earth element. Circle represents the air element and other various solar plexi within the body and movement of energy.

Yantras have great significance and is considered auspicious in Hindu mythology so most of the Hindus worship deities in different forms and each form is linked to a yantra. It is believed that the chanting mantras of a diety keeping his yantra in front of him can speed up the beneficial effects of the mantras and also represents an aspect of divinity or higher state of consciousness.
Yantras represents the difference between mind and body, so there is difference between Yantra and Mantra. Yantra is the body or form of the deity whereas mantra is the mind or consciousness. Yantra is the external, visual expression through which the deity receives devotion. When yantra is adopted for worship and the energy is invoked in it, it becomes a symbolic representative of the deity and actually it becomes the deity when the person abandons his analytical, critical attitude and the energy circulates in higher centers. Every yantra becomes the abode of the deity it represents.
